The four stages of Oral Implantology
Process divided into four phases
The Oral Implantology process goes through several stages that, together, allow the success of the process. Thus, dividing it into four phases, we will have the evaluation and planning processes, the oral surgery for placing your dental implant, the prosthetic rehabilitation process and the maintenance process.
1st phase - Clinical Evaluation
The first stage involves clinical assessment and radiological exams, in order to guarantee the correct performance during the surgical intervention. Pathologies that may interfere with treatment are identified, as well as their oral health status, including teeth, gums and bone structure, are assessed.
With the equipment present at Clínica Médica São João, computed tomographic examinations are performed and integrated with the advanced 3D TAC software, which will guide the work to be done through the surgical and prosthetic stages. Molds are made, if necessary, and provisional prostheses in order to replace the definitive teeth while they are being produced.
You will be presented with all treatment possibilities to allow a more informed and conscious decision, allowing you to fulfill your expectations and help improve your quality of life.
2nd phase - Oral Surgery
The second stage of the Oral Implantology process is surgical intervention, which guarantees you the greatest possible comfort with the application of local anesthesia in your own operating room. In the case of the lack of sufficient bone to support the placement of implants, the bio bone insertion technique, a previous bone graft that allows the support of implants, may be applied.
Whether or not this insertion is necessary, minimally invasive, highly accurate surgical techniques are always used in order to guarantee the insertion of the titanium implant in the mandibular or maxillary structure.
3rd phase - Prosthetic rehabilitation
The third phase of the Oral Implantology process involves prosthetic rehabilitation.
The definitive rehabilitation is completed when the bone healing is complete around the implants and it is at this stage that our laboratory, in tune with the CEREC CAD / CAM systems, designs and manufactures the definitive teeth in a high-resilience ceramic, either crown or bridge.
This process may require several tests, due to its need for rigor, in order to guarantee the best results and maximum satisfaction.
4th phase - Maintenance
The last phase of the process is intrinsically linked to oral hygiene care, so it is necessary to organize and maintain a periodic program of maintenance visits at your Dentist. Oral hygiene is essential for a successful rehabilitation process.
